5 Days/4 Nights
This tour provides a great opportunity to see what southern Utah is all about. We travel through what is known as “Canyon Country” and work our way up the Colorado Plateau to some of the most incredible sights in the American Southwest. One iconic site after another, this tour will provide an unforgettable experience to see all 5 of Utah’s National Parks including Zion, Bryce, Arches, Canyonlands and Capitol Reef.
After a quick meet & greet with your guide and fellow travelers, we will depart from Las Vegas and drive 3 hours north to Zion National Park. Once we arrive, your guide will prepare a nice lunch before heading into the park. You will have plenty of time to explore one of several hiking trails that suit the amount of challenge you are seeking. You’ll have an opportunity to see the stunning sandstone cliffs carved out by the blue-green waters of the Virgin River. Keep an eye out for Mule Deer along the river banks or look high in the skies for the extremely rare California Condor soaring above.
After several hours of optional hiking and exploring, we depart from Zion National Park and drive another hour to our campsite. This evening, we will enjoy some All-American s’mores by the campfire while getting to know one another. Once you get tired, hop into your warm sleeping bag and spacious tent provided. Be sure to view the stars in the dark Utah skies.
After a hot breakfast provided by your guide, we will take down our tents and depart for a 4-hour drive across Utah to the quaint mountain town of Moab, UT (also known for being an adventure mecca in the American Southwest). Once we arrive in the Moab area, we will set up camp then make the short drive to Arches National Park to view one of the greatest collections of natural arches anywhere on the planet. You will see several of the famous arches including “The Windows”, Double Arch, and hike 3 miles round-trip to one of the most famous arches, Delicate Arch. Delicate Arch is spectacular to see as the sun begins to descend on the horizon, often bringing out the rich orange and red colors of the sandstone. Also be sure to look off in the distance as the La Sal Mountain Range is perfectly positioned behind this spectacular arch creating a stunning contrast of colors.
After completing the hike, we will drive 30 minutes back to our campground in the town of Moab where we’ll enjoy a well-prepared dinner followed by another campfire under the stars.
Rise and shine to a nice breakfast before taking on another scenic and adventurous day that takes us to Canyonlands National Park. This park is a series of canyons split into sections by the convergence of the Green River and Colorado River. For this trip, we will head into a portion of the park known as the “Island in the Sky” for a couple of scenic hikes that provide excellent views. Canyonlands National Park’s landscape is rough, rugged, and desolate, however there is much beauty to behold. With calm winds, don’t be surprised to look out and be amazed at how silent it is as you hear your own breathing and heart beating; truly an amazing experience.
After we leave from Canyonlands, we make a stop at another spectacular location called Dead Horse Point State Park to see one of the famous snakelike curves of the Colorado River. This state park has been used often in movies and television shows and was seen frequently in the recent HBO series “Westworld”.
Once again, dinner will be provided at camp for another relaxing evening in Moab, UT.
After an optional early morning sunrise and breakfast, we depart from the Moab area and drive through some of Utah’s most amazing scenery. Along this drive you will see a plethora of unique geology as we work our way towards tonight’s destination of Bryce Canyon National Park. Your guide will make several viewing stops along this route for great photo opportunities including a stop at your 4th National Park in 4 days, Capitol Reef National Park to see some beautiful rock formations and human history. Capitol Reef is one of the lesser visited park of the famous 5, so checking that off the list will be a great accomplishment!
We will continue 2 more hours to the city of Bryce, UT where we will set up camp and have dinner. Depending on the amount of sunlight available at the time of year you do this trip, there may be an opportunity for sunset at Bryce Canyon this evening. Otherwise, we’ll be sure to offer a spectacular sunrise the following morning.
Enjoy your final night of camping at higher elevation, so expect the evening to get a bit cooler than the previous nights! The higher elevation may make for the clearest night of the trip so be sure to look up into the night sky.
After an optional sunrise, we’ll have our final hot breakfast of the trip before heading into Bryce Canyon National Park and National Park #5 in 5 days. Bryce Canyon is known for it’s truly incredible geology including hundreds, if not thousands, of sandstone spires called “hoodoo’s” that bring this landscape to life. This morning you’ll have a chance to get on the trails and head down into the park for some up close views of several different rock layers along with a variety of plants and animal life more suited for higher elevations.
The trail you go down is known as “the greatest 3 mile trail in the world” and offers awesome views looking down at the switchbacks that cut through the famous “Wall Street” portion of the trail. After hiking for a couple hours, you’ll return back to where you started, where your guide will have a lunch prepared for you.
After lunch, we begin our 4.5 hour drive back to Las Vegas. We’ll have plenty of stops along the way to stretch out your legs as we plan to return to Las Vegas before 18:00 or 6:00pm. Once we arrive, you’ve made it! All Five of Utah’s National parks in five days! Say so long to your fellow travelers before getting ready to go out on the town. Please note: MountainBased does not recommend booking a departing flight from Las Vegas before 10:00pm or 22:00 in order to provide enough time to check-in.

I did the 3 day hiking trip to Zion and Bryce and it was great! We did 3 different hikes and each one was amazing. Hiking The Narrows, with the river up to our knees, was definitely a highlight. Our guides Justin and Nick were fantastic- extremely knowledgable, enthusiastic and were keen to answer any questions we had. The food was delicious, campground was clean with hot showers, and company was awesome! The journeys weren't too long and the van was comfortable with air con. All in all this was a very organized, fun trip and I would certainly book another with MountainBased asap! Thank you for the best time!
I booked a 5 day private tour across Utah with my husband and 14 year old. The hikes in each park were pleasant and the food was outstanding. I also didn’t expect such a comfortable sleeping pad while camping! Justin and Nick were super understanding and they were very knowledgeable. We travel a lot and these guys really took the time to make sure we didn't miss any hidden gems along the way. Even my 14 year old had a blast and I will be recommending MountainBased to all my F&F.
My friend and I were on a convention in LV and we decided to do something adventurous. In our search we came upon MountainBased and I must say it was everything they had stated and much more. They were absolutely friendly and totally informative. Our 2 guides Justin and Nick not only became good friends in our 3 days but with their experience lead us to the best routes and so I was able to capture the best pictures from our hike. Our 3 day hike which started with the hike in the Narrows was so much fun. Hiking through the mountains in the running stream of the river was awesome. The second day to the Hoodoos in the Bryce Canyon was spectacular. The 3rd day we hiked the Angels landing and they were absolutely experienced with tips and tricks to make the hike not only fun but memorable. The camp site was clean and the food they cooked was delicious, fresh and hot. Very clean camp facilities and very well organised. I have been back a few weeks but still haven't stopped talking to everyone around me about this experience and highly recommend them to all. Didn't think I'd say this but looking forward to our next convention in LV to do another tour with MountainBased!
I just had the greatest experience with a 3 days camp at MountainBased. It was one of the best experiences I ever had! From these 3 days, I was very well taken care of and showed around so much. Of the three days, each one was unique and different. Justin and Nick were awesome and very patient. You can tell they were very experienced by the way they showed us around and knew their stuff. They took care of us, made us feel at home and even made excellent homemade food for us everyday! I definitely recommend this tour and I will be sure to try the 5-days camp with them next time!
